Second Cook
Every memorable dining experience at Fairmont Hotels and Resorts begins behind the scenes with our Culinary team’s commitment to safe, efficient operations and exceptional cuisine. As a Second Cook, the care you devote to preparing each menu item will not go unnoticed by the guests who are fortunate enough to enjoy them!
This is a full-time, permanent position and we are looking for Second Cooks to start immediately.
Pay Rate: $22.05 per hour
We recognize tenure through our compensation – hourly rates increase after 6 months and then yearly to three years. At three years the pay rate for this role would be $26.75.
Job Duties Include
- Prepare, cook and service all food items for a la carte and buffet menus, or individual dishes
- Organize and manage buffets and banquets
- Follow kitchen policies, procedures and service standards, and follow all safety and sanitation policies
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
- Ensure proper labeling, dating and storage of all items in the kitchen
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances and handle guest allergy concerns with appropriate care and importance by reporting to Sous Chef
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years in the culinary field required
- Diploma/Certification in a Culinary discipline required
- Journeyman’s papers or international equivalent an asset
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Physicals Aspects Include But Are Not Limited To
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50+ lbs
- Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
