SUMMARY:

Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within the organization. Senior Accountant will be a business partner to functions throughout the Division. Additional interaction may also take place with outside other businesses, banks, customers, vendors, and corporate personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness.

Performs monthly close activities including making journal entries, analyzing prepaid and accrued expense accounts in the general ledger, and handling inter-company transactions with other KASCO and Steel Partners entities.

Coordinates monthly G/L account reconciliations with support of Staff Accountant.

Works closely with Controller on business process changes and department requests for information.

Ensures that ERP System (Visual) generated reports are properly maintained and remain consistent with all organizational changes.

Prepares bank reconciliations in a timely manner.

Assists both internal and external auditors during audit engagements.

Leads assigned projects focusing on continuous improvement. Makes process improvements/efficiency recommendations.

Provide support and be a business partner to commercial and operations personnel within the business.

Maintain good internal control procedures to safeguard company assets in accordance with Financial Policy and US GAAP.

Provides support to other accounting departments including payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable on a “as needed” basis.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting; Master’s Degree in Accounting is preferred. Minimum of five years accounting experience in related field. Audit & manufacturing experience a plus.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where on limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

  • Advanced Excel skills including experience with pivot tables, formulas and financial analysis tools.
  • Proficient in the use of ERP accounting system
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Ability to travel infrequently for training, operational visits, and meetings as needed
  • Experience with complex accounting activities with the ability to analyze unusual circumstances and present a logical resolution to the issue at hand
  • Knowledge of US GAAP reporting requirements and experience in their application
