Warehouse Associate – Position Overview
The Warehouse Associate is a vital part of the team, ensuring the seamless operation of the warehouse that serves multiple divisions within the company. This role involves receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping products to guarantee accurate and timely deliveries. Working closely with team members and other departments, the Warehouse Associate helps maintain inventory accuracy and contributes to overall warehouse efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving & Inventory Management
- Inspect and receive incoming shipments, verifying them against purchase orders and noting discrepancies.
- Organize and store products in designated warehouse locations to maintain proper inventory control and rotation.
Order Fulfillment
- Accurately pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment following company standards.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) or manual processes to track and update order statuses.
Shipping & Distribution
- Prepare shipments for dispatch, including labeling, packaging, and loading onto delivery vehicles.
- Ensure all shipping documentation, including bills of lading and manifests, is accurate and complete.
Quality Control
- Conduct quality checks on products and packaging to confirm compliance with company standards.
- Report any damaged or defective items and coordinate with supervisors to resolve issues.
Warehouse Maintenance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company procedures and safety protocols.
- Inspect warehouse equipment regularly and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns.
Inventory Accuracy
- Assist with periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies with system records.
- Update inventory records to ensure accurate stock levels and locations.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with other warehouse associates and departments to optimize workflow and ensure operational efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to address any concerns or challenges.
Compliance & Safety
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and practice proper lifting techniques to minimize injury risks.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in training programs to enhance warehouse operation skills and knowledge.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improving processes and warehouse efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic computer skills.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory handling.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform prolonged physical tasks.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in multi-divisional or multi-channel warehouse operations.
- Forklift certification or other warehouse equipment certifications.
- Basic understanding of inventory control and supply chain processes.
