Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and document audit status, communications, and findings within agency databases, documentation logs, and audit templates.
• Collect and verify factual documentation to support audit conclusions.
• Efficiently plan and organize work to meet critical deadlines.
• Prepare clear and concise reports and work papers that effectively summarize audit findings.
• Reconstruct and develop accounting methods to accurately reflect fuel transactions when records are missing or incomplete.
• Create and manage Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Word documents for audit documentation.
• Conduct thorough and accurate audits of financial records for motor fuel suppliers, distributors, service stations, and trucking companies to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Interpret and apply tax laws and motor vehicle laws, utilizing professional auditing and accounting principles in the examination of financial records and tax reports.
• Communicate effectively with individuals, company officials, and their representatives to address compliance matters.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Fundamental understanding of auditing and accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Basic knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code and Income Tax regulations.
