Responsibilities & Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive patient care, addressing physical, psycho-social, and spiritual needs, while considering cultural, ethnic, and developmental factors for adolescent through geriatric patients.
- Perform basic patient care activities, assisting with daily living needs under the guidance of an RN.
- Observe, differentiate, and report normal and abnormal patient findings to nursing staff.
- Implement restorative nursing care plans in collaboration with RNs, ensuring personalized, patient-centered care.
- Maintain clear communication with physicians, staff, and interdisciplinary teams to support coordinated patient care.
- Monitor and document patient height, weight, positioning, and use of splinting equipment.
- Assist with range of motion (ROM) exercises, strengthening activities, and ambulation for patients in the Restorative Nursing Assistant (RNA) Program.
- Participate in RNA, Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), and Weight Variance meetings to support patient progress.
- Identify and report suspected cases of abuse or neglect in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
- Support patient and family education, reinforcing key information as directed by the RN and observing patient responses.
- Ensure patient safety, responding appropriately to environmental, behavioral, or emergency situations.
- Uphold patient rights, dignity, and privacy while delivering compassionate care.
- Follow Universal Precautions and maintain compliance with infection control standards.
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Current California Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certificate
- Current California Restorative Nursing Assistant (RNA) Certificate
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Assault Response Competency (ARC) Certification (within 30 days of hire)
- Los Angeles County Fire Card (within 30 days of employment)
Preferred Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Completion of Nursing Assistant and Restorative Nursing Assistant courses is highly desirable.
- Minimum of one year of recent experience as an RNA or CNA preferred.
