Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Safely deliver new and used trucks, as well as customer vehicles, to various locations within the Chicagoland area.
  • Accurately process customer returns in a timely manner.
  • Promptly report any damages or mechanical issues to TransChicago.
  • Collaborate with the Service and Truck Sales departments to relay customer feedback and ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Consistently follow proper safety protocols while transporting vehicles to TransChicago or customer locations.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is functioning properly; report any issues to the location manager.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or any damage promptly.
  • Perform additional projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
  • Clean DMV motor vehicle record.
  • Valid CDL Class B license with air brake endorsement required.
  • CDL Class A license preferred.
  • Must pass a DOT medical certification evaluation.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions accurately.
  • Strong customer service skills, organizational abilities, and a positive attitude.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Reliable, consistent attendance is essential.
  • Physically capable of performing all job-related tasks.

Physical Requirements

  • Must have the ability to see and hear clearly. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • This role involves frequent movement including standing, walking, sitting, and regular use of hands and arms for handling, touching, and reaching.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs (45 kg).
  • Must be legally able to operate a motor vehicle and safely enter and exit both the cab and rear cargo area multiple times per shift.

Compensation

  • Pay rate: $20 – $22 per hour, based on experience, skills, certifications, and education.
