About the Role

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the Haas School of Business is a key executive leader, reporting directly to the Dean. This role oversees all financial planning and operations, ensuring strategic alignment with the school’s reputation, academic mission, and long-term goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial strategy, budgeting, and resource allocation for the Haas School of Business.
  • Manage financial planning, reporting, and control to ensure fiscal integrity and efficiency.
  • Oversee financial aid, capital projects, and business services through subordinate managers.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard university resources.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, faculty, and central campus administration on financial and operational strategies.
  • Drive a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging (DEIJB) within finance operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of financial policies, fund accounting, budgeting, and reporting systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience managing complex financial operations within a large institution.
  • Ability to develop and present strategic financial analyses and actionable recommendations.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
  • Advanced degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience/training).

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification or professional finance designation.
  • Active participation in professional organizations such as ACHE.
  • 5–7 years of experience in financial leadership, preferably in higher education.

Salary & Benefits

  • Compensation range: $180,000 – $240,000 (budgeted), with a full range of $134,200 – $263,400, based on experience and qualifications.
