Driver – Key Responsibilities
Driving & Operational Duties
- Safely operate a council vehicle to carry out street-cleansing duties.
- Use mechanical, powered, and hand tools to complete tasks effectively.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, performing physically demanding duties.
Compliance & Customer Service
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide polite, friendly, and professional service to the public.
- Follow strict schedules to meet service priorities.
Supporting Community & Events
- Assist in organizing and supporting local events in the Dearne Area.
- Collaborate with partner services to enhance community projects.
- Adapt to additional duties as required by management.
Location: Smithies Lane Depot (subject to service requirements)
Hours: 37 per week, Monday-Friday
Salary: £25,584 – £27,269 per year
What We’re Looking for in a Driver
Valid UK Driving Licence – A must-have for this role
Experience Working in All Weather Conditions – Ability to perform duties efficiently
Ability to Work Under Pressure – Meeting deadlines while maintaining quality
Strong Team Player – Collaborating with the Neighbourhood Services team
Commitment to Safety – Adhering to Barnsley Council’s regulations
This is a safety-critical role requiring compliance with the Drug & Alcohol Testing Procedure.
