About the Role

As a Senior Accountant (Accountant III) in Financial Services, you will oversee general accounting, audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting. Reporting to the General Accounting Manager, you will play a key role in year-end close activities, financial reconciliations, and compliance for both University-wide and Auxiliary operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements and reports
  • Conduct data analysis, account reconciliations, and tax filings (NCAA, UBIT, Sales Tax, 1042, 990 schedules, etc.)
  • Lead year-end close processes and ensure GAAP compliance
  • Provide training and guidance to accounting staff
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years in professional accounting
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Expertise in GAAP, governmental accounting, and financial reporting
    • Proficiency in Excel, accounting software, and ERP systems (Oracle/PeopleSoft preferred)
    • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or advanced Accounting degree
  • Experience in higher education or government accounting
  • Leadership experience in training and mentoring staff
