What You Need to Succeed as a Forklift Operator at XPO

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to perform basic math calculations, with or without a calculator
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, based on freight volumes

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a dock or warehouse within the transportation industry
• Previous forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment
• Knowledge of loading and unloading trailers
• Strong attention to detail and a drive for success

Key Responsibilities:

• Sort, handle, load, and unload both palletized and non-palletized freight efficiently
• Operate motorized and manual equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks
• Secure freight inside trailers using the necessary tools and supplies
• Follow all safety protocols to ensure a secure work environment
• Utilize mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments
• Work extended hours in a non-climate-controlled dock environment

Physical Requirements:

• Lift various freight items, frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally over 70 lbs.
• Walk and stand for extended periods on a non-climate-controlled dock, which may have slippery surfaces
• Perform reaching, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, squatting, and kneeling as needed
