Occupational Therapist – Key Responsibilities & Requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and treating patients to restore function, enhance mobility, and improve overall quality of life. Your responsibilities include:

Reviewing physician referrals, prescriptions, and medical records to determine the appropriate occupational therapy treatment plan.

Evaluating and treating post-surgical orthopedic patients based on physician protocols.

Assessing patients’ strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency to create or adjust treatment plans.

Developing and documenting personalized therapy programs based on patient evaluations.

Administering occupational therapy treatments, including home exercises, within the scope of practice while closely monitoring patient responses.

Adjusting treatment plans as necessary to maximize patient recovery and progress.

Accurately recording treatment sessions, patient responses, and progress in both electronic and paper-based records following clinic guidelines.

Collaborating with physicians and healthcare providers to obtain additional patient information, refine treatment plans, and integrate therapy into the patient’s overall healthcare plan.

Supervising and assisting students during clinical rotations or observational experiences, if applicable.

Supporting marketing and promotional initiatives, including participation in outreach events as needed.

Attending departmental meetings and in-service training sessions to stay updated on best practices.

Assisting in the efficient operation of the clinic by taking on responsibilities assigned by the Rehab Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher (B.S. or equivalent) from an accredited institution.

Licensure: Must hold a current Texas Occupational Therapist license.

Experience: One to two years of related experience preferred; however, new graduates with an orthopedic rotation are encouraged to apply.

Preferred: Experience in an orthopedic outpatient setting is a plus.
