Nursing Associate – Trauma & Orthopaedics

About the Role

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Nursing Associate to join our Trauma & Orthopaedics team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment, alongside orthopaedic surgeons, ward-based ortho-geriatricians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and trauma nurse practitioners.

As a Nursing Associate, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care while developing your orthopaedic nursing skills. You will be supported with a structured induction, professional development opportunities, and a competency-based appraisal system to enhance your expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients.

  • Perform delegated clinical care duties within your competency, acting with autonomy and professionalism.

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of Team Nursing, ensuring accurate patient records via EPIC.

  • Mentor and support new care assistants undertaking the Care Certificate.

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to enhance patient outcomes.

  • Ensure care plans respect individual customs, religious beliefs, and personal preferences.

  • Respond effectively to clinical emergencies, ensuring patient safety and well-being.

  • Support patient admission, discharge, and handover processes as per NHS Trust guidelines.

Who We’re Looking For

Essential Criteria:

  • Registered Nursing Associate with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council).

  • Nursing Associate Foundation Degree (UK) qualification.

  • Experience working in healthcare settings with an understanding of multidisciplinary teamwork.

  • Strong communication and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in Orthopaedic Nursing.

  • Evidence of involvement in mentoring or supporting junior staff.

  • Practice Supervisor and Assessor experience.
