Job Overview:
Join our collaborative Cybersecurity Hunt & Incident Response Team at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). We are seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Analyst to monitor, analyze, and respond to infrastructure, cloud, and hybrid threats. As a member of our Defensive Cyber Operations team, you’ll play a key role in identifying malicious behaviors and addressing cyber intrusions.
Responsibilities:

Hunt for advanced threats by analyzing data for malicious activity.

Handle real-time incidents, following procedures to contain threats.

Collect and analyze digital evidence, including logs and malware.

Stay current on attack methodologies and apply insights operationally.

Recommend process improvements based on advanced threat behavior.

Use OSINT and threat intelligence to analyze and mitigate risks.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Information Security or a related field, or equivalent experience.

5+ years of experience in a complex network environment.

3+ years in operational cybersecurity.

Proficiency in data manipulation using Python, PowerShell, SPL, or similar scripting languages.

Experience with Splunk, ELK, SQL, or Jupyter notebooks.

Knowledge in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), IAM, EDR, and advanced attack methodologies (MITRE ATT&CK).

Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Cybersecurity or a related field.

Extensive experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
