Job Overview:

Join our collaborative Cybersecurity Hunt & Incident Response Team at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). We are seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Analyst to monitor, analyze, and respond to infrastructure, cloud, and hybrid threats. As a member of our Defensive Cyber Operations team, you’ll play a key role in identifying malicious behaviors and addressing cyber intrusions.

Responsibilities:

  • Hunt for advanced threats by analyzing data for malicious activity.

  • Handle real-time incidents, following procedures to contain threats.

  • Collect and analyze digital evidence, including logs and malware.

  • Stay current on attack methodologies and apply insights operationally.

  • Recommend process improvements based on advanced threat behavior.

  • Use OSINT and threat intelligence to analyze and mitigate risks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in a complex network environment.

  • 3+ years in operational cybersecurity.

  • Proficiency in data manipulation using Python, PowerShell, SPL, or similar scripting languages.

  • Experience with Splunk, ELK, SQL, or Jupyter notebooks.

  • Knowledge in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), IAM, EDR, and advanced attack methodologies (MITRE ATT&CK).

  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

  • U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Cybersecurity or a related field.

  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
