About the Role
In this role, you will:

Lead the full lifecycle of data analytics projects: from data acquisition and preparation to analysis, reporting, and continuous monitoring

Develop actionable insights through dashboards and data visualizations that support business decisions and identify risks

Collaborate with departments and leadership to build strong relationships and deliver impactful audit analytics

Support continuous improvement by recommending and implementing advanced analytic tools and processes

Provide guidance and training to promote data literacy and foster a culture of collaboration among analysts

Assist in compliance tracking, key performance/risk indicator reporting, and quality control aligned with IIA standards

Serve as a subject matter expert on third-party applications used by the Auditor’s Office
What You Bring
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, Computer Science, Data Science, MIS, or a related field

Certification(s) preferred: Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, CISA, CIA (or willingness to obtain)
Experience:
-
3–7 years of combined experience in data analytics and technology support

3+ years in data analysis, statistical modeling, and working with analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Python, ACL)

3+ years designing dashboards and reports with tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or SAS
-
3+ years of hands-on coding using SQL, Python, R, Java, or SparkR (preferred)

Strong proficiency in relational databases, data modeling, and data transformation

Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and Teams
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Solid understanding of database design and architecture

Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking

Effective communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work both independently and collaboratively
-
High level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information
Additional Details

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours/week | Hybrid telework | Occasional travel within Harris County

Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods, push/pull up to 50 lbs., and lift/carry up to 20 lbs.
