Additionally, the college opened a Hospitality Management Center in downtown Cleveland in 2010.
Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant collaborates with the Accounting Director to manage the College’s grants accounting and financial reporting processes, ensuring all deliverables meet daily expectations. This role may involve assisting with routine tasks and special projects as needed.
Essential Duties:

Ensure compliance with grant agreements, fiscal guidelines, and internal controls for federal, state, and local funding.

Work with the Accounting Director to enhance financial services processes and technology.

Develop and track annual staff goals and professional development.

Supervise and train staff on grant fund reconciliation, timely reporting, and funder compliance.

Collaborate with College stakeholders to implement appropriate internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP.

Prepare the College’s Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) and support the A-133 Single Audit.

Test and ensure accuracy of the College’s accounting system (Banner).

Resolve discrepancies in ledger accounts promptly.

Review and approve journal entries, labor redistributions, and financial reports.

Analyze budgets and financial positions with managers and directors.

Handle Federal Financial Aid spending and submit reimbursement requests.

Prepare and analyze grant reports and compliance documents.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

Minimum of five years of relevant accounting or analyst experience.

CMA or CPA certification (or candidate).

Experience in supervising and ensuring quality work from staff.

Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency in accounting principles, financial analysis, and technology tools (Oracle/Banner).

Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

Experience with governmental and fund accounting, higher education, and Banner System.

Knowledge of accounting standards prescribed by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board.
