We are looking for a dedicated Patient Services Assistant to join our team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. This part-time role requires working afternoons from 15:30 to 20:00, ensuring patients receive excellent care and service. As a Patient Services Assistant, you will be integral to the smooth operation of meal services, ensuring food safety and patient satisfaction. You’ll be responsible for taking patient orders, preparing beverages, and helping maintain a clean and hygienic environment.  Key Responsibilities of the Patient Services Assistant Role

As a Patient Services Assistant, your main duties will include:

  • Ensuring all catering follows the Food Safety Act, Food Standards Agency guidance, and Trust’s food policies

  • Taking patient orders via an electronic tablet and ensuring dietary needs are met

  • Setting up meal services and collecting food items from the CPU, ensuring correct temperatures

  • Preparing and serving hot and cold beverages in line with food hygiene standards

  • Collecting patient menus at the end of the day, cleaning, and preparing them for the next day

 Ideal Candidate for the Patient Services Assistant Role

The ideal Patient Services Assistant will have:

  • Proven experience in customer care, with a passion for helping others

  • A basic understanding of Health & Safety and Food Safety

  • Previous healthcare experience or catering/food service experience (preferred)

  • GCSEs in English and Mathematics or equivalent experience

  • A strong commitment to maintaining cleanliness and high standards of food service
