 Main Duties of a Pharmacy Support Worker

Key Responsibilities for Pharmacy Support Worker

As a Pharmacy Support Worker, your duties will involve:

  • Processing invoices for payment and adjusting stock levels using the Pharmacy Computer system.

  • Collating, recording, filing, scanning, and maintaining essential pharmacy documents.

  • Working closely with the Pharmacy Purchasing and Receipts Teams to manage medicine stock.

  • Manual handling tasks, including lifting, with reasonable adjustments where needed.

  • Participating in weekend and bank holiday shifts on a rota basis.

This full-time position offers 37.5 hours per week and a chance to work within a dedicated, supportive team.

Person Specification for Pharmacy Support Worker

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Commitment to complete NVQ 2 in Pharmacy Services or an approved Level 2 GPhC qualification within 18 months.

  • Numeracy and literacy skills, demonstrated via assessment.

  • IT experience and standard keyboard skills.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to follow procedures with excellent attention to detail.

  • Customer service skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.

Desirable Skills

  • GCSEs in English, Maths, and Science (grades A*-C or 4-9).

  • Previous pharmacy, healthcare, or stock control experience.

  • Experience in clinical trials or money handling roles.
