Position Overview
PharmScript is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Supervising Pharmacist to oversee all aspects of medication preparation and storage across our pharmacy network. In this leadership role, you will ensure optimal pharmaceutical services that meet stringent legal, accreditation, and organizational standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong management skills, a dedication to quality care, and a collaborative spirit to support both clinical staff and patient needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce and communicate PharmScript’s policies and procedures to facility staff

  • Act as a liaison between PharmScript and assigned healthcare facilities, ensuring satisfaction and responsiveness to client needs

  • Collaborate with department heads, medical staff, and nursing teams to enhance drug therapy and resolve process issues

  • Recommend cost-effective, scope-appropriate medications to improve outcomes and reduce facility costs

  • Oversee all medication storage and preparation areas to maintain safety and compliance

  • Review potential admissions for high-cost or restricted medications and coordinate with admissions teams accordingly

  • Ensure appropriate renal dosing of medications for hemodialysis patients

  • Verify that all new admissions have medications billed correctly and promptly

  • Serve on facility committees, including Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Antibiotic Stewardship, and Infection Control

  • Supervise prior authorizations, medication interchanges, and return processes

  • Educate healthcare staff through scheduled in-services

  • Maintain inventory levels for emergency kits, crash carts, house stock, and controlled substances (e.g., methadone)

  • Develop and manage job descriptions, schedules, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions

  • Lead departmental quality improvement initiatives and ensure accurate reporting

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing pharmacy operations


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (PharmD preferred)

  • Active pharmacist license in the state of practice (multi-state licensure a plus)

  • 1–5 years of long-term care pharmacy experience preferred

  • 3–5 years in a management role

  • Inpatient hospital experience is a plus

  • Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills

  • Familiarity with multiple pharmacy software systems

  • Ability to work on-call or within a rotating schedule

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • May require standing or sitting for 7–10 hours daily

  • Occasionally required to bend, crouch, kneel, or climb

  • May involve extended work hours and long-distance travel
