An exciting opportunity is available to join our team as a Medicines Management Pharmacy Assistant at Fairfield General Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary. We’re looking for a reliable, motivated, and enthusiastic individual to support our pharmacy and ward services. As a Medicines Management Pharmacy Assistant, you’ll play a key role in improving patient care by ensuring medicines are managed safely and efficiently on the wards. This fixed-term role offers 30 hours per week over 9 months, providing valuable experience within a supportive NHS environment. About the Role
Main Duties and Responsibilities of a Medicines Management Pharmacy Assistant
As a Medicines Management Pharmacy Assistant, your role involves providing vital medicines management support to both pharmacy and ward teams. You’ll work closely with healthcare professionals, patients, and families to help manage medications safely and effectively. Key duties include:

Supporting the National Medicines Management Programme by managing medicine transfers between wards.

Speaking directly with patients and relatives about their prescribed medicines.

Helping prevent missed doses by ensuring medication availability.

Offering a visible pharmacy presence on the ward and acting as a link between pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams.

Prioritising tasks effectively, working under pressure, and maintaining excellent communication with clinical teams.
This role requires flexibility, weekend working, and a proactive, patient-focused approach.

Essential Qualifications:

NVQ2 Level 2 in Pharmacy Services, or

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above, including English and Maths.
Essential Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication.

Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.

Effective teamwork and independent working abilities.

Good awareness of stock control procedures.
Desirable:

Previous experience in hospital or community pharmacy.
