We are looking for an experienced engineer to take full ownership of our global storage environment. This system supports high-throughput workloads, real-time data pipelines, and compute-intensive research applications across multiple continents. This hands-on role focuses on building scalable infrastructure, optimizing complex workflows, and ensuring seamless data access and performance at scale.

As a key contributor to a globally distributed team, you’ll help design, maintain, and enhance resilient storage systems, collaborating with engineering and research partners across different regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and manage distributed storage platforms that handle petabyte-scale data across a global compute grid.

  • Ensure high availability, low latency, and consistent performance across storage layers.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance and infrastructure issues across storage, Linux, and network stacks.

  • Integrate file and object storage with compute clusters, ensuring smooth data interoperability and optimized performance.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering and research teams to facilitate efficient data movement, retention, and analysis.

  • Participate in a global on-call rotation to ensure continuous access to critical data infrastructure.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in building and managing large-scale storage systems for performance-sensitive environments.

  • In-depth knowledge of distributed file systems and object stores such as Lustre, GPFS, Ceph, S3, BeeGFS, Weka, Vast, PowerScale, DDN, or MinIO.

  • Strong Linux engineering background with a deep understanding of the I/O stack, from kernel to user space (file systems, block devices, I/O schedulers, virtual file systems).

  • Expertise in measuring and optimizing throughput, latency, and IOPS for various workloads.

  • Familiarity with the impact of underlying hardware on performance (e.g., NVMe, PCIe, GPUs, NICs, PMEM, CPU topology, RedFish).

  • Solid scripting or programming skills in Rust, Python, Go, or Bash.

  • Experience in planning and scaling infrastructure capacity for research or compute-heavy applications.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical challenges to diverse teams.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with orchestration or tools like Kubernetes, CSI drivers, Slurm, Terraform, Ansible.

  • Familiarity with HDFS, cloud storage APIs (AWS/GCP), or AI/ML data frameworks.
