An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced IT Systems Engineer to join Ryobi Aluminium Casting (UK) Ltd in Carrickfergus. As a market leader in high-quality, technically advanced automotive components, we’re looking for a proactive IT Systems Engineer to support and enhance our IT infrastructure. This role involves maintaining and improving our server, network, and security systems, while providing reliable IT services to all departments. You’ll also contribute to strategic IT projects aimed at boosting productivity, operational efficiency, and business continuity.
Key Responsibilities of an IT Systems Engineer
As an IT Systems Engineer, you will:

Support daily IT operations and long-term infrastructure projects

Manage and maintain network and server systems, ensuring peak performance

Implement continuous improvements across IT hardware, software, networking, and security

Deliver comprehensive IT support services to internal users

Lead or assist in IT-driven business improvement initiatives

Support disaster recovery and data protection strategies

Troubleshoot technical issues in hardware, software, and networking
Essential Skills and Experience for an IT Systems Engineer
To succeed as an IT Systems Engineer, you’ll need:

5+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure within a production environment

Expertise in Windows Server management, firewall configuration (preferably Sophos XG), and virtual environments like VMware, Proxmox, or Hyper-V

Experience in incident resolution processes, infrastructure monitoring, and performance analysis

Strong knowledge of network infrastructure (Layer 2 & 3 protocols)

Skills in backup, data protection, and business continuity planning

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation abilities
