The Theatre Healthcare Assistant (Band 3) will play a vital role in supporting patient care and the smooth running of our busy orthopaedic theatres, contributing to a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
Theatre Healthcare Assistant (Band 3) Main Duties
As a Theatre Healthcare Assistant (Band 3), your primary responsibilities include:

Assisting in the care of patients within the orthopaedic theatres

Supporting various teams across different specialties and sites when needed

Enhancing care by maintaining excellent communication with colleagues and patients
-
Ensuring infection prevention and control by opening sterile packs
-
Assisting with counting instruments, swabs, and sharps during surgeries

Completing required documentation in both digital and paper formats

Supporting the setup and maintenance of a clean theatre suite
Wider Team Support and Multidisciplinary Collaboration
You will work closely with the multi-professional team to:

Assist in the patient’s perioperative journey, ensuring high-quality care and service

Be involved in training new staff and learners to maintain excellent care standards

Report to Team Leaders to complete daily theatre-related tasks
Person Specification
Essential Experience and Qualifications for Theatre Healthcare Assistant (Band 3)
We are looking for candidates who have:

Previous experience in a healthcare setting (desirable if you have worked in a theatre environment)

A good level of education, including literacy and numeracy

Basic IT skills and willingness to engage in ongoing professional development

NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or similar qualifications)
Skills and Knowledge
As a Theatre Healthcare Assistant (Band 3), you should demonstrate:
