About the Job
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and management of one or more patient care units. This role works collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure delivery of high-quality, patient- and family-centered care.

Communication & Collaboration

Effectively communicates plans, updates, and feedback across teams and departments.

Builds positive relationships with physicians and staff to promote excellence in care.

Partners with nursing education programs to support student and staff development.
Clinical Leadership

Serves as a clinical expert and resource for staff, applying research and best practices.

Develops and evaluates care standards, policies, and competencies to optimize outcomes.

Ensures the delivery of safe, therapeutic care by maintaining appropriate staffing, equipment, and training.

Leads and supports patient safety initiatives and compliance with clinical standards.
Quality & Performance Improvement

Leads quality assurance efforts to meet regulatory and organizational standards.

Develops unit-specific goals using data-driven, evidence-based practices.

Oversees monitoring processes to enhance safety, documentation, and environmental conditions.
Leadership & Staff Development

Recruits, hires, trains, and manages team members.

Promotes a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation.

Supports staff participation in shared governance, professional organizations, and educational growth.

Conducts timely performance evaluations and addresses HR matters in partnership with Human Resources.
Financial Oversight

Participates in annual budget development and ensures responsible fiscal management.

Guides team on cost-effective practices and evaluates budgetary impact of operational decisions.
Required Qualifications

Experience:
-
Minimum of 5 years RN clinical experience
-
At least 2 years of healthcare leadership experience

Education:
-
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or related healthcare field

Licenses/Certifications:
-
Current Oregon RN License
-
BLS certification within 30 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications
-
4+ years in a similar leadership role
-
5+ years in area of clinical expertise

Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance (e.g., Nurse Practice Act, JCAHO, OSHA, CMS)
-
Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field
