What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Senior Cisco Network Engineer, you will be a key player in supporting and advancing Cedars-Sinai’s data infrastructure. Your responsibilities include:
- Providing technical leadership in engineering, design, and architecture for network and system monitoring and management.
- Developing and implementing network standards, policies, and procedures, while liaising with vendors to ensure network integrity and security.
- Mentoring Network Engineers and independently leading network design and implementation teams.
- Performing maintenance and upgrades of diverse network components (servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access, management systems).
- Ensuring high-quality data transmission through network connectivity monitoring.
- Providing expert technical support for LAN/MAN/WAN, security, wireless, and cloud networks.
- Managing day-to-day network issues and maintaining enterprise SLAs.
- Evaluating the impact of new applications on the network and recommending necessary enhancements.
- Coordinating network penetration tests and implementing remediation strategies.
- Collaborating with project managers and IT teams for successful project implementation.
- Assisting in managing contractors for security and network projects.
- Participating in policy creation and security reviews of information systems.
- Contributing to the design, implementation, and maintenance of network security devices and systems.
- Accountable for reviewing requirements, developing network standards, and securing the organization’s data network infrastructure.
- Taking primary responsibility for identifying and resolving network hardware and software issues.
- Promoting governance and compliance with security standards and maintaining network security infrastructure for functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
Qualifications:
- Five (5)+ years as a Network Engineer in a complex, multi-platform environment, preferably healthcare.
- Proven experience in planning, designing, and documenting large-scale Cisco networks (15,000+ nodes).
- Experience in the strategic direction and selection of network and security technologies, including concept testing, vulnerability assessments, and threat mitigation.
- Expertise in network monitoring, analysis, management, and configuration tools, or server/system monitoring tools.
- Packet-level expertise in network traffic analysis.
- Strong project management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively.
- Expertise in all aspects of LAN/WAN operation, routing, topology, QoS, Multicast, network protocols, and MetroEthernet.
- In-depth knowledge of MPLS, NAC, VPN, remote access, security devices, firewalls, security protocols, IDS/IPS, NAT/PAT, ACS, Adaptive Authentication, SecurID, Radius/LDAP/TACACS, and wireless technologies.
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or IT preferred.
- CCNA required, CCNP or CCIE preferred.
