Role Overview

As a Trainee Rural Civils Operative – Dorset, you will:

  • Support the operation of vibratory mole plough and directional drilling equipment.

  • Assist in the installation of fibre networks across various soil types and terrains.

  • Work closely with experienced team leaders and the larger Civil Engineering Department.

  • Ensure safe working practices and report any health and safety concerns.

  • Participate in regular maintenance checks of machinery.

  • Contribute to team cohesion and support the training of new team members.

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

  • Full UK driving license.

  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Desirable:

  • Experience in landscaping, farming, fencing, or operating agricultural machinery.

  • B&E trailer license.

  • CSCS certification.

  • Knowledge of street works or cable avoidance techniques.

Training and Development

Successful candidates will undergo a structured induction and probationary training plan. Working Hours

  • Monday: 7:00 AM – 5:00/6:00 PM

  • Tuesday to Friday: 7:30 AM – 5:00/6:00 PM

  • Based on a 45-hour workweek, with additional hours at an agreed hourly rate.

  • Optional weekend work available at time and a half.
