CDL Driver – Class B

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate and drive a commercial truck equipped with a specialized lift mechanism to safely load and unload containers at customer locations, adhering to all safety protocols.

• Perform and document daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and lift mechanism to ensure safety and proper functioning.

• Accept and manage additional delivery requests as required to meet business demands.

• Use the company’s handheld computer to verify deliveries and navigate to destinations.

• Operate forklifts and/or overhead cranes when needed for loading and unloading tasks.

• Clean and inspect containers to ensure they are in good condition and presentable for customer delivery.

• Coordinate rental agreements, paperwork, and payment processes with customers.

• Communicate with the Driver Lead or Market Manager regarding customer inquiries or concerns; prepare detailed driver notes as necessary.

• Perform maintenance and repair tasks on containers and lifts, both in the field and at the storage center.

• Provide support for other storage center operations when required.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the truck cab, keeping it free from debris both inside and outside.

• Carry out additional duties as assigned by the management.

Management & Supervisory Responsibilities

• This position typically reports to the Market Manager or Territory Manager. It does not have direct management responsibilities, such as hiring, firing, pay decisions, or performance management.

• Pay range: $24.00 per hour

Job Qualifications: Education & Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Valid CDL Class B license (without air brake restriction) is required.

• Must maintain a current and valid driver’s license.

• Must meet PODS Driver Qualification Standards.

• Must be at least 21 years of age (insurance requirement).

• Possess a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate or the ability to obtain a one-year certification (DOT requirement).

• Experience with electronic equipment and software preferred.

• Strong math skills necessary to perform required duties.

• Alternatively, a combination of education, training, or experience that meets the job requirements.

• Ability to attend and successfully complete the required 2-week New Hire Driver Training Program.
