Exciting Role for a Vascular Clinical Support Worker

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Vascular Clinical Support Worker to join our fast-paced Vascular Surgery Rapid Access Outpatient Clinics. This role involves supporting patients with urgent vascular issues, such as diabetic foot diseases and other critical conditions. You will collaborate closely with vascular nurses, clinical specialists, podiatrists, scientists, and the wider multidisciplinary team. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy environment and brings enthusiasm and initiative to their work.

Main Duties as a Vascular Clinical Support Worker

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the efficient flow of patients through clinics

  • Removing and replacing patient dressings

  • Providing basic patient care

  • Handling appointment bookings and responding to phone inquiries

  • Performing baseline vascular tests under supervision after training

  • Assisting nursing staff with running clinics proactively

Detailed Responsibilities for Vascular Clinical Support Worker Role

Working under senior supervision, you will:

  • Act as the first point of contact for patients and referring professionals

  • Input and maintain accurate patient records on Careflow

  • Prepare clinic materials, including patient notes and paperwork

  • Assist with clinical audits as needed

  • Welcome patients and guide them within the clinic area

  • Conduct baseline vascular tests (full training provided)

  • Safely perform manual handling and basic outpatient care duties

  • Remove cannulas if required (after training)

  • Manage phone communications and deliver messages promptly

  • Maintain and track vascular testing equipment and ensure supply levels are met

  • Escort patients to and from other departments when necessary

  • Assist with outpatient appointment bookings following departmental protocols

  • Maintain flexibility to ensure smooth clinic operations

  • Comply with all Trust policies and attend annual appraisal reviews

Vascular Clinical Support Worker – Skills and Qualifications Required

Essential:

  • NVQ/RQF Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare or equivalent experience (minimum 2 years)

  • English and Maths GCSEs (Grade A-C/4+)

  • Solid full-time educational achievements

Desirable:

  • Band 3 Clinical Skills Training (e.g., venepuncture, cannulation)

Work Experience:

  • 2+ years in a healthcare or social care setting

  • Strong experience as a support worker

  • Effective time management and prioritization skills

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Familiarity with healthcare policies and procedures

  • Basic IT proficiency (Word, Email, Keyboard)

  • Dedication to delivering high-quality patient care
