Accountant, General Ledger and Treasury Management – The Bridgespan Group
The Bridgespan Group, a leading nonprofit consulting firm serving ambitious social change leaders, is seeking an Accountant, General Ledger and Treasury Management, to join our accounting team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, General Ledger, you will be integral in preparing and recording General Journal Entries, conducting account reconciliations, maintaining schedules, and participating in the monthly close process. You will also support global treasury management tasks and participate in audits and tax filings.
Responsibilities:
General Ledger Management (85%):
- Prepare recurring expense, accrual, deferral, and other adjusting entries and record them in the General Journal.
- Reconcile various Statement of Financial Position (SoFP) accounts (Assets, Liabilities) and Statement of Activities (SoA) accounts (Revenue, Expenses).
- Maintain the General Ledger in coordination with the Accounting Manager, GL, ensuring correct allocation to accounts, cost centers, and case codes.
- Maintain various SoFP account schedules.
- Implement processes and controls for proper expense accounting against budgets.
- Maintain budget-to-actual report templates for the accounting system in coordination with FP&A.
- Communicate the need for new accounts, cost centers, or case codes.
- Participate in the monthly accounting books’ closing process.
- Assist during internal and external audits.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of federal and state tax forms.
- Assist the accounting team in identifying and implementing process streamlining.
- Assist the Accounting Manager and VP of Finance with lease amortization schedules.
Treasury Management (15%):
- Update the list of active bank account signatories with US banks in coordination with the VP of Finance & Risk Management.
- Assist A&A Finance leadership in keeping updated signatories for bank files.
- Work with the Office of the Managing Partner to ensure timely signing of banking documents.
- Any other tasks assigned by a supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field.
- 3+ years of successful work experience in accounting, preferably with a focus on GL accounting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with an ERP system such as Oracle, Workday, and Blackbaud required.
- Aptitude in applying complex Accounting Information Systems.
- Able to work independently and consistently generate high-quality output.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work both independently and as part of various teams.
- Commitment to strong performance, high accountability, and openness to feedback.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and calm under pressure.
