Position Summary:
US Tech Solutions seeks a proactive and skilled Telecom Data Network Engineer to support network projects across the Midwest. This role requires a strong foundation in routing and switching, a general understanding of wireless and firewalls, and ideally, network automation skills. The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable in agile, small team environments.
Responsibilities:
- Implement, test, and document standard network solutions at substations and corporate offices.
- Ensure accurate documentation, proper alarming, updated asset information, and documented/approved change impacts.
- Configure Cisco routers and switches using enterprise standards and templates.
- Develop detailed engineering job packages (parts lists, installation instructions, drawings).
- Create and maintain network diagrams (physical, logical, rack, power) using MS Visio.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and business partners for successful network implementations.
- Potentially troubleshoot routing, switching, and firewall policies during turn-ups.
- Monitor installation compliance with regulations and standards.
- Adhere to change management practices.
- Procure, turn-up, and troubleshoot private and public WAN circuits.
- Prepare cost estimates for planned installations.
- Work in an Agile engineering environment.
- Perform related activities as directed.
Required Qualifications:
- Pass a background check.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow processes and be detail-oriented.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated experience with Cisco routers, switches, and access points.
- Good understanding of copper and fiber standards and connectors.
- Solid understanding of Layer 2 (VLANs, Dot1q, STP) and Layer 3 (IPv4, subnetting, OSPF, BGP) technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic layer 2/3 communication issues.
- General understanding of wireless and firewall technologies and proto.
