Job Description

The Prevent Education Officer role in Kirklees offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Government’s counterterrorism strategy, CONTEST. Prevent Education Officer – Role Overview

As a Prevent Education Officer, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying Vulnerabilities: Assessing educational settings to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities related to radicalisation.

  • Delivering Training: Providing training sessions to school staff, governors, and other educational professionals to raise awareness and understanding of the Prevent Duty.

  • Developing Resources: Creating and disseminating materials that support the implementation of the Prevent strategy within educational institutions.

  • Building Partnerships: Establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including schools, local authorities, and community groups, to foster a collaborative approach to safeguarding.

  • Monitoring Compliance: Ensuring that educational institutions comply with the Prevent Duty and related safeguarding requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

Prevent Education Officer – Required Attributes

To be considered for the Prevent Education Officer position, candidates should possess:

  • Experience in Education: Previous experience working within educational settings, with a strong understanding of the challenges and dynamics involved.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of audiences.

  • Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills to assess risks and develop appropriate strategies to mitigate them.

  • Knowledge of Prevent Strategy: A solid understanding of the Prevent strategy and its application within educational contexts.

  • Security Clearance: Willingness to undergo Security Check (SC) clearance as required for the role.

Working Conditions:

Prevent Education Officer – Employment Details

  • Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week.

  • Contract Type: Temporary, with a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2022.

  • Location: Various locations across Kirklees, with flexibility to travel as needed.

  • Salary: Grade 11, £40,476 – £42,708 per annum.

  • Additional Requirements: The role may require attendance at events outside of normal working hours. A current driving license and access to a vehicle are desirable.
