Anticipated Salary Range: $137,510 – $180,000.
This salary range represents a good-faith estimate based on the responsibilities of the position, its location, and overall market conditions. Final compensation may vary depending on factors such as education, experience, certifications, and skillset. Additional, non-recurring incentives may also be discussed during the interview process.


Position: Senior DevOps Engineer
Clearance Requirement: Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)
Location: Hybrid (1–2 days/week onsite in Columbia, MD)

Job Summary

Enlighten is seeking a skilled and driven Senior DevOps Engineer to join our high-performing development team. This role requires deep experience in Linux system administration, cloud infrastructure (especially AWS), and automation tools. The ideal candidate will also bring a strong background in software development and big data ecosystems. You’ll be instrumental in deploying and maintaining scalable infrastructure while helping optimize reliability, performance, and automation across our systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, deploy, and manage infrastructure in AWS cloud environments

  • Automate CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes to ensure reliability and scalability

  • Integrate development applications into infrastructure workflows

  • Monitor production systems, resolve incidents, and enhance system performance

  • Implement configuration management using tools like Ansible or Puppet

  • Develop automation scripts in languages such as Bash, Python, or Go

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation

  • Stay informed of emerging technologies and best practices in DevOps and cloud computing

  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support mission success


Minimum Qualifications

  • Active Secret security clearance (required)

  • U.S. citizenship (required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 9+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s with 7+ years; or high school diploma with 13+ years of relevant experience

  • Strong expertise in Linux system administration and troubleshooting

  • Proficiency with AWS (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda) and infrastructure automation

  • Experience with CI/CD tools and version control (Git, pipelines, etc.)

  • Knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet

  • Experience with OS/application deployment, scaling, and system management

  • Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Go

  • Familiarity with Agile software development and standard DevOps toolchains

  • DoD 8140/8570 compliance (e.g., Security+ certification)

  • Willingness to work a hybrid schedule (1–2 days/week onsite in Columbia, MD)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with big data tools and technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Hive, Trino, Presto)

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
