McCormick is hiring Technical Operators for our Peterborough, Cambridgeshire facility on a fixed-term basis. As a Technical Operator, you’ll work in a dynamic food production environment supporting the creation of top-quality condiments and flavor products. Main Responsibilities of a Technical Operator
As a Technical Operator, you will be responsible for running and maintaining advanced processing and packing equipment under strict guidelines.

Operate machinery using batch cards, SOPs, and digital recipe systems

Monitor and adjust equipment to maintain quality, safety, and productivity standards

Perform start-up and shutdown procedures safely and efficiently

Complete required documentation: batch records, quality reports, and inventory logs

Make key parameter adjustments and understand their impact on finished goods

Follow HACCP, GMP, and LOTO protocols to ensure a safe, clean work environment
Technical Operator Role – Maintenance and Troubleshooting
A Technical Operator will also take an active role in maintenance:

Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, and cleaning of machinery (Autonomous Maintenance)

Detect early signs of equipment wear or failure and report abnormalities

Understand equipment structure to help prevent deterioration

Troubleshoot minor mechanical and control system issues
-
Use problem-solving tools like 5 Whys and RCA to identify root causes and prevent losses

Comply fully with Health & Safety, Quality, Food Safety, and Environmental policies
