Company Overview
The Registered Nurse plays a vital role in the pre-operative care of patients scheduled for a variety of surgical procedures. This position is responsible for conducting thorough nursing assessments, including obtaining detailed medical histories and gathering critical information relevant to anesthesia planning. The RN ensures that all necessary documentation, diagnostic results, and patient information are accurately compiled and reviewed prior to the scheduled surgery.
In collaboration with the anesthesia team, the nurse identifies and reports any issues or concerns that may require further evaluation by the anesthesiologist or the patient’s primary medical provider. Serving as the central point of coordination for patient data, the RN ensures that all pre-operative information is complete and accessible, enabling safe and effective anesthesia management and surgical care.
Essential Functions and Performance Expectations

Conduct a thorough and continuous nursing assessment, including the comprehensive collection, analysis, and interpretation of patient data.

Integrate assessment findings to identify health concerns, establish nursing diagnoses, and develop individualized goals, teaching plans, and desired outcomes.

Implement the established plan of care by initiating, providing, assigning, or delegating appropriate interventions within legal, ethical, and regulatory guidelines. These interventions promote health, prevent disease, and support recovery and overall well-being.

Monitor, evaluate, and document patient outcomes in response to interventions. Compare outcomes against evidence-based benchmarks and research standards to guide follow-up care, adjustments to treatment plans, and appropriate referrals.
Education and Experience Requirements

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or nursing diploma required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Advancement within the clinical nurse professional practice ladder requires a BSN and certification in the nurse’s clinical specialty.

Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of Texas.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, to be renewed every two years.
Physical Requirements
To successfully perform the duties of this role, the individual must be able to meet the following physical demands, with reasonable accommodations provided as necessary:

Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, and perform tasks requiring visual, auditory, and verbal communication.

Clinical staff must be able to lift up to 35 pounds independently, while non-clinical staff may lift up to 50 pounds.

For any lifting beyond these limits, use of an assisted-lift device or assistance from other personnel is required.
