Key Responsibilities

  • Process, reconcile, and maintain vendor invoices, payments, and the check register in accordance with signature authority guidelines

  • Import approved budgets into the accounting system

  • Monitor and reconcile daily cash balances, credit card transactions, and bulk fuel credit accounts

  • Generate and manage invoices for bus services, land use, and other business activities

  • Process bi-weekly or monthly payroll, including deductions, taxes, and timely tax filings

  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions

  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries and financial records

  • Assist in preparing internal and external financial reports

  • Perform bank reconciliations in collaboration with the Controller

  • Support compliance with financial policies and assist in developing new procedures

  • Prepare audit documentation and reconciliations

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts quarterly

  • Record general journal entries as needed


Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered)

  • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience required

  • Experience with QuickBooks and/or Deltek Costpoint preferred

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and double-entry accounting; familiarity with DCAA requirements is a plus

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced); Word and PowerPoint preferred

  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • Professional demeanor and proactive approach to tasks

  • Experience working with Alaska Native Corporations, government contractors, or bulk fuel/gas operations is highly desirable
