Company Overview
Under the general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Staff Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial data, prepare accurate and timely financial reports, and ensure the implementation of effective accounting control procedures.
Nature of Work:
The Staff Accountant will maintain the general ledger and review financial statements for accuracy. They will prepare reports that assist senior management in making informed decisions related to upcoming projects and budget planning. Additionally, the role involves tracking and recording all transactions within WRC. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Account Reconciliation:

Reconcile bank accounts.

Reconcile employee Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and download FSA data.

Assist in reconciling grants, such as MHSA, when needed.
Banking:

Resolve banking discrepancies and exceptions.
-
Assist POS staff with inquiries about paid checks.
-
Issue stop payment orders for outstanding checks.
-
Download monthly bank statements and related data to the server.

Enter voids in CNB as needed.
Month-End Closing:

Create month-end journal entries.
-
Input, edit, and post month-end entries.
-
Balance claims and accounts before closing.
Reporting:

Prepare budget reports.
-
Create ad hoc reports for management as required.
Systems Operations:

Coordinate and train vendors on e-billing and its administration.

Coordinate, train, and assist staff on IQ software and its administration.

Write queries to support accounting needs.
-
Participate in IT, Budget, and other DDS procedural conference calls.
Support:

Serve as backup to the Accountant II (Info Systems) when necessary.

Assist other departments with accounting-related matters, including caseload reconciliation, vendor audits, and transfers.

Support disaster recovery efforts.

Review coworkers’ work for accuracy and completeness and make corrections as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a data entry or accounting-related position.

Proficient in accurately calculating time periods and matching service descriptions.

Ability to audit and process requests efficiently in SANDIS.

Knowledge of AS400 software.

Familiar with basic office equipment (10-key, copier, fax, etc.).

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.

Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new software.

Capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
Special Requirements:

This position is primarily office-based, though remote work may be available.
