Position Overview:
The Medical/Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role as a member of the patient care team, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and the direction of the Unit Director. This position involves delivering high-quality nursing care within the scope of practice, contributing to the overall well-being and recovery of patients on the unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the collection and assessment of patient data to support informed care decisions.

  • Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary care team to develop and prioritize patient and family-centered care plans, adjusting strategies as necessary.

  • Carry out physician and nursing orders relevant to the patient/family care plan, ensuring actions remain within the LPN’s scope of practice.

  • Accurately document nursing interventions, patient responses, and any changes in condition to maintain seamless communication among care team members.

  • Adhere strictly to established procedures, regulatory requirements, and policies for maintaining and protecting patient medical records.

  • Provide direct hands-on patient care, including administering medications and treatments, while closely monitoring and documenting patient reactions.

  • Continuously evaluate and report on patient progress toward established health outcomes.

  • Deliver nursing care tailored to the specific needs of the patient population served on the unit, in accordance with administrative guidelines and scope of services policies.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program.

  • New graduates are encouraged to apply.

  • IV certification is strongly preferred to enhance clinical capabilities.

  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain an active LPN license to practice in the state of Kansas.
