Position Summary
We’re looking for a highly motivated Senior Manager, Data Science to lead a team of talented Data Scientists and Media Analysts. This team focuses on developing cutting-edge business intelligence tools, statistical models, and measurement solutions, alongside conducting member-centric custom analytics and offering expert consultation to business stakeholders. This vital role specifically supports MAP (Media Access Platform), Sam’s Club’s rapidly growing advertising division, which is crucial to our overall strategy.
You’ll play a key role in collaborating with the MAP sales team and third-party suppliers to optimize ad delivery for our members. This position demands visionary thinking, hands-on analytics skills, a strong working knowledge of statistical and business intelligence tools, coding, automation, and media domain expertise. Excellent business acumen, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication and presentation skills are also essential.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Manager, Data Science, you’ll:
- Manage and develop a data science team in the United States.
- Lead the measurement of media campaign results and guide the formation of recommendation guidelines based on those findings.
- Manage and perform hands-on modeling and complex analyses using Python, Databricks SQL, and/or R.
- Oversee the development of impactful dashboards using PowerBI and Tableau.
- Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, simple terms for stakeholders.
- Partner with product, engineering, and sales teams to create novel data science solutions that inform decision-making and generate insights leading to cost savings and increased revenue.
- Continuously engage with senior leadership and stakeholders to ensure alignment and manage interdependencies.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone with:
- Extensive prior experience in data science and analytics.
- A significant background in media analytics.
- Exceptional communication skills to craft compelling data-driven stories that provide actionable business insights.
- Proficient coding skills in SQL, Python, and R, along with robust database knowledge.
- Subject matter expertise in dashboard development and visualizations (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI).
- Strong knowledge of modeling techniques, including the ability to create propensity score models.
- Excellent project management skills, including managing technical resources and balancing multiple priorities and milestones.
- A passion for working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- A collaborative mindset and a strong sense of curiosity.
- Solid business acumen.
- Proven management experience.
Bonus points if you have:
- More than 3 years of experience in media analytics.
- Advanced proficiency in Python (beyond just using libraries).

Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 – $220,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
Minimum Qualifications
- Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field AND 5 years of experience in an analytics-related field.
- Option 2: Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field AND 3 years of experience in an analytics-related field.
- Option 3: 7 years of experience in an analytics or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in data science, machine learning, and optimization models.
- Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Econometrics.
- Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.
- Supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in using open-source frameworks (for example, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- A background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and seamlessly integrating digital accessibility. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of accessibility best practices and contribute to our ongoing commitment to creating accessible products and services that follow Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
