The Role: Team Lead – Warehouse

As a Team Lead, you’ll be responsible for the smooth running of a specific section within our warehouse operations. You will support management with day-to-day warehouse activities and lead a team of operatives, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality standards are consistently achieved.

This is a critical position that requires a proactive and hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic logistics setting.

Key Responsibilities

 Warehouse Operations

  • Oversee daily operations within your assigned warehouse area to meet productivity, quality, and customer expectations.

  • Train new warehouse operatives and ensure consistent skill development across your team.

  • Ensure accurate inventory control, recording stock movements and participating in regular stock takes.

  • Monitor system accuracy, recommend process improvements, and ensure reports and data are current and precise.

  • Enforce safety procedures, cleanliness standards, and equipment maintenance.

People Management

  • Supervise and motivate a team of warehouse operatives to perform at high standards.

  • Coordinate workloads, set priorities, and ensure operational targets and KPIs are met.

  • Manage attendance, performance reviews, return-to-work interviews, and welfare meetings.

  • Communicate goals, expectations, and updates to your team regularly and effectively.

  • Provide cover for management during leave or absence when needed.

 Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and transport companies to ensure timely, accurate service.

  • Collaborate closely with warehouse supervisors and managers to share updates and resolve issues.

  • Promote DSV’s values and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and productive work environment.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience as a Warehouse Team Leader or similar supervisory role in a logistics environment.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.

  • Knowledge of warehouse systems, health & safety regulations, and manual handling practices.

  • Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills.

  • IT proficiency, especially with spreadsheets and warehouse management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCSEs A–C / NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.

  • Supervisory qualification and/or warehousing certification (e.g., Dangerous Goods Handling).

  • Forklift Truck licence (preferred but not essential).

  • Familiarity with lean warehouse techniques and continuous improvement processes.
