Position Summary
The Staff Physical Therapist delivers physical therapy services as a vital member of the multidisciplinary care team, primarily serving adult and geriatric populations, with occasional support for pediatric and adolescent patients. This role may also include serving as a Clinical Instructor for physical therapy students.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with referring physicians and healthcare professionals.

  • Provides clear, compassionate communication to patients and their families.

  • Completes all documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Maintains active professional development through continuing education.

  • Appropriately delegates tasks and supervises physical therapy assistants and aides.

  • Assesses patients’ functional levels and develops tailored treatment plans from a developmental perspective.

  • Evaluates patients, identifies key issues, and sets clear, measurable therapy goals.

  • Implements treatment using approved modalities and interventions in line with departmental standards.

  • Regularly monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment as necessary.

  • Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning.

  • May provide clinical instruction to physical therapy students and assist with the orientation of new staff, students, or volunteers.

  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

  • Applies knowledge of developmental and age-related needs when treating adolescent, pediatric, and geriatric patients.

  • Actively engages in performance improvement and quality initiatives across the organization.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program or equivalent recognized by the California Physical Therapy Board.

Experience (Preferred):

  • Prior experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

Licenses & Certifications (Required):

  • Current Physical Therapist license in the State of California or eligibility with license applicant status.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
