About the Job
As a Medical Assistant I – Clinics at Legacy Health, you play a vital role in bridging communication between patients and physicians. Your clinical expertise, compassion, and attention to detail ensure accurate testing and support high-quality care, all while upholding Legacy’s mission to improve lives.
In this position, you’ll support patient care, contribute to the efficiency of clinic operations, and assist the healthcare team under the supervision of a physician or manager. You’ll perform a wide range of responsibilities, from preparing patients and exam rooms to handling basic lab work and facilitating communication of test results.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare patients and exam rooms for appointments and procedures

Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and basic lab work

Administer medications as directed by the provider (per clinic operations)

Assist during exams and medical procedures

Conduct procedures within your scope of practice

Accurately document medical information in patient records

Track and route test results for provider review and file appropriately

Relay test results to patients when authorized by provider

Coordinate patient care activities such as scheduling tests, reinforcing education, and triaging when necessary

Manage and restock medical, office, and pharmaceutical supplies

Communicate effectively via phone with patients and internal staff

Utilize electronic health records and process orders accurately

Maintain professionalism and adhere to Legacy’s values and conduct standards

Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Experience:
-
Prior experience as a back-office medical assistant in a clinic setting is preferred
-
Minimum of one year experience desired
Education (must meet one of the following):
-
Completion of a medical assistant program or equivalent experience

Completion of formal U.S. Armed Forces medical training program
-
(Oregon only) Completion of a Basic or Advanced Oregon EMT program
Licensure/Certifications:
-
Washington & Oregon:
-
Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association required

Medical Assistant certification required within 12 months of hire from AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA (AAMA preferred)

Certification at time of hire is preferred and may be required depending on the department

Oregon only:

EMT license (Basic or Advanced) with national registration through NREMT may substitute for MA certification

Washington only:

Washington State MA-Certified or Interim MA-Certified license required, including AIDS training as mandated by the state

Skills:

Strong keyboarding and navigation skills with electronic health records
Pay Range
USD $22.97 – USD $32.84 per hour
