Position Summary

About the Data Science Team
The Data Science team plays a central role in VIZIO/Walmart’s mission to provide the best shopping experience possible. Utilizing advanced analytics, machine learning, and big data technologies, we generate business insights that inform strategic decision-making. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be pivotal in advancing our data capabilities and contributing to VIZIO/Walmart’s ongoing growth and innovation.
Key Responsibilities

Develop solutions to novel and complex business challenges using clean, maintainable code.

Work cross-functionally with Product Managers and Engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions.

Analyze large datasets to understand business problems and design technical approaches.

Build, iterate, and deploy machine learning models, from quick prototypes to scalable production systems.

Assess product features’ performance and value through data-driven evaluations.

Document and organize complex technical projects to maintain clarity and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications & Skills
-
Expertise in big data analytics and automation techniques.

Strong business acumen, with the ability to translate business challenges into data-driven solutions.

Proficient with database technologies and distributed data stores (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).

Experience developing and deploying machine learning models.

Skilled in writing production-quality Python code, with fluency in PySpark.

Familiarity with at least one machine learning framework such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and frameworks.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, IT, or related field plus 3 years of relevant experience; or

Master’s degree in a related field plus 1 year of experience; or

5 years of relevant experience without a degree.
Preferred Qualifications

Advanced expertise in data science, machine learning, and optimization models.

Master’s degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, IT, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, or a related discipline.

Successful completion of assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.

Experience with open-source ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.

Background in creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.
