About the Role
Northumberland County Council is seeking a Fleet Data Analyst to lead efforts in reducing external vehicle hire spend and optimising our 750+ vehicle fleet. This role will combine data-driven analysis, operational insight, and collaboration with senior management to drive efficiencies across services such as Waste, Neighbourhood Services, and Highways Maintenance.
As a key player in our fleet operations, you will take the lead in evaluating vehicle hire usage, monitoring utilisation rates, and identifying opportunities to improve performance and reduce costs.
Key Responsibilities

Lead analysis of vehicle hire data to identify inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities

Evaluate fleet utilisation and customer demand to optimise asset use

Collaborate with the hire desk, fleet management, finance, and service departments

Prepare and present insightful reports to senior leadership

Use GPS tracking software and fleet systems to monitor and interpret usage trends

Develop and manage project plans to implement improvements and operational strategies
Requirements
Essential:
-
Degree in Data Analytics, Business, Logistics, or related field

Proven experience in data analysis (ideally in transport, logistics, or vehicle hire)

Familiarity with vehicle rental/fleet management operations

Experience using vehicle GPS tracking systems

Demonstrated track record of project completion and delivering actionable insights

Ability to develop project timelines and schedules

Strong stakeholder communication and presentation skills

Experience working with local authority fleets
