Payroll & Benefits Specialist – Edgewood, MD
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our team in Edgewood, Maryland. This role is key to ensuring accurate payroll processing and effective administration of employee benefits, while upholding strict confidentiality and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills and a commitment to excellent employee support.
Key Responsibilities

Accurately process bi-weekly payroll by collecting, verifying, and entering employee data.

Maintain payroll records, including updates for wage changes, deductions, and departmental transfers.

Verify timesheets and prepare payroll data for submission to external processors.

Generate and distribute payroll reports in a timely and accurate manner.

Administer benefits programs (health, dental, vision, disability) and assist with new hire enrollments and eligibility changes.

Reconcile benefits invoices and reports; resolve any discrepancies.

Support 401(k) administration, including contributions, loans, and compliance for quarterly meetings.

Maintain confidential and compliant employee records.

Serve as a key point of contact for employee payroll and benefits inquiries.
Qualifications

Proven experience in payroll and benefits administration.

Familiarity with multi-state payroll and bi-weekly cycles.

Hands-on experience with HRIS systems like UKG Pro or UltiPro.

Strong understanding of FMLA, workers’ comp, and retirement benefit processes.

Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information.

SPHR or similar certification is a plus.

Strong problem-solving skills to manage report reconciliation and resolve discrepancies.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
