Salary: £35,000 per annum
Accommodation: High-quality live-in accommodation included
Hours: ~48 hours per week (evenings, weekends, holidays required)

Set against the stunning backdrop of a 3,100-hectare estate just 10 miles south of Edinburgh, Penicuik Estate is one of Scotland’s most celebrated designed landscapes. With over 350 years of stewardship by the Clerk family, the estate is now a hub for regenerative living, heritage preservation, and experiential tourism.
We’ve recently restored historic buildings into luxury accommodation, offering guests curated experiences — from e-biking and foraging to wellness retreats. We’re now looking for a Hospitality Host / Manager to lead our day-to-day guest operations and bring the estate’s vision to life with warm, detail-driven service.
Your Role at a Glance
As our Hospitality Host / Manager, you will be the face of Penicuik House, ensuring guests experience the very best of Scottish hospitality in a timeless and unforgettable setting.
Key Responsibilities:

Guest Experience: Welcome guests personally and ensure every interaction exceeds expectations

Leadership: Manage front-of-house staff and liaise with external contractors

Food & Beverage: Prepare and serve light meals, snacks, and drinks with finesse

Operations: Handle reservations, guest queries, and maintain hospitality spaces to 5-star standards

Event Support: Coordinate weddings, corporate bookings, and private functions with external vendors

Health & Safety: Uphold strict safety, hygiene, and fire compliance standards

Financials: Process guest billing, assist with budgets, and monitor costs
What You Bring
Experience & Background:

5+ years in the hospitality industry, with at least 1–2 years in a managerial capacity

Preferably from a high-end, boutique, or heritage property background
Skills & Qualities:

Confident in food and beverage preparation (barista/mixology a plus)

Natural leader and team motivator

Proficient with hospitality booking and billing systems

Warm, well-presented, and highly organised

A calm problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced settings
