About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Multi-Skilled Roofer/Bricklayer to join our Reactive Maintenance Team. You’ll carry out roofing, bricklaying, and general repairs across our residential properties in Reading. This role includes a company van, monthly tool allowance, and potential overtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out repairs and maintenance to residential properties, including:

    • Roofing: Tiling, slate, felt, sheet, flashings, guttering

    • Bricklaying: Single/cavity walls, above/below ground blockwork

    • Groundwork: Drainage clearance/repairs, paving, screeding, paths

  • Work independently or with other trades across Reactive Repairs, Voids, and Planned Maintenance

  • Assess and manage van stock, ensuring materials are used efficiently for first-time fixes

  • Record jobs and request materials using PDA (tablet)

  • Maintain a high standard of health & safety on-site

  • Work respectfully in and around tenanted homes, safeguarding tenants’ property

  • Collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and external partners to ensure smooth service delivery

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in roofing and bricklaying, preferably within public or housing sectors

  • Skilled in general property maintenance, groundworks, and drainage

  • Ability to work independently using your own initiative

  • Comfortable using a PDA/tablet for job logging, stock management, and communication

  • Awareness of Health & Safety legislation and best practice (CDM knowledge beneficial)

  • Great communicator and team player, with a respectful and courteous manner toward tenants
