Role Overview

The Student Support Advisor will play a key role in delivering outstanding pastoral and wellbeing services across a designated UCFB campus. Acting as the first point of contact for student support enquiries, the post holder will contribute to a positive and inclusive student experience by providing front-line guidance, referrals, and practical support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the initial point of contact for a range of student pastoral and wellbeing enquiries.

  • Provide accurate information, advice, and guidance in line with institutional policies and procedures.

  • Work collaboratively with the wider Student Support team to deliver a responsive and student-centred service.

  • Assist with the delivery of student milestone activities such as open days, induction, re-induction, enrolment, and graduation events.

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all student interactions and update student databases as required.

  • Support the implementation of the Pastoral and Wellbeing Support framework under the direction of the Student Support Manager and Inclusion Lead.

  • Where appropriate, represent the Student Support Department in relevant meetings, internal working groups, or committees.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a student services, wellbeing, or support advisory role.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential issues.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • High level of administrative accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in using databases and Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and mental health first aid.

  • Awareness of the challenges facing students in higher education.

  • Experience of working in a higher education or student-centred environment.

  • Ability to build effective relationships with students and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Additional Information

  • The role may require occasional evening or weekend work to support key student events.

  • Training and development opportunities will be provided.

  • A DBS check may be required prior to appointment.
