We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Employment, Training and Education (ETE) Advisor to join our dynamic Occupational and Vocational Team within the North London Forensic Service (NLFS).
This full-time role supports individuals with severe and enduring mental health challenges as they transition from secure inpatient care to community living. You will be a vital part of a multidisciplinary team that works across male and female low and medium secure wards and community outreach services in Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.
About the Role
The ETE Advisor will play a key role in empowering service users to access education, training, and employment opportunities aligned with their individual recovery journeys. Using a person-centred, recovery-orientated approach, you will:

Provide information, advice, and guidance tailored to each individual’s goals

Co-produce meaningful plans that improve self-esteem, confidence, and hope for the future

Develop links with external partners and services to facilitate vocational pathways

Deliver support face-to-face across both inpatient and community settings

Contribute to multidisciplinary clinical meetings and risk assessments
-
Work autonomously while collaborating within a supportive team structure
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate ETE planning and delivery for a complex client group

Engage service users in meaningful activities that foster social inclusion and independence

Liaise with local colleges, training providers, employers and voluntary organisations

Monitor progress, record outcomes, and contribute to service evaluations
-
Promote a culture of recovery, dignity, and respect throughout all interactions
-
Adapt communication styles to meet diverse client needs and settings
Person Specification
Essential:
-
Experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, ideally in secure or forensic services
-
Proven ability to support individuals into employment, training or education
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
Strong organisational and time management skills
-
Ability to work across multiple boroughs and inpatient settings
-
Confident working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable:
-
Lived experience of mental health challenges
-
Experience with vocational rehabilitation or career coaching
-
Knowledge of local education, training, and employment resources
