Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Administrator to join our team at our facility in Aurora, Colorado.

Job Responsibilities:

As a Sr. Principal Systems Administrator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as a Linux and Windows System Administrator on large government contracts.
  • Performing administration on VMware technologies (or related platforms).
  • Managing all aspects of NAS Storage.
  • Providing support for multiple networks.
  • Communicating effectively with all levels of the organization, including internal and external customers, in both written and oral formats.
  • Ensuring the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, coordinating with network, software, and system engineers, PC desktop technicians, project managers, end users, and IT management.
  • Completing necessary administration tasks and directing others as required.
  • Analyzing internal and external customer requirements to determine equipment and software needs for automated system solutions.
  • Recommending and implementing system enhancements to improve performance and reliability, including installation, upgrades/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
  • Providing backup and recovery services, managing file systems and disk space, and routine virus protection.
  • Creating and maintaining user and computer accounts, and modifying file permissions and security access lists.
  • Developing and documenting technical processes and procedures.
  • Making recommendations for hardware, software, and system component purchases.
  • Interacting, meeting, discussing, and troubleshooting issues with vendors; evaluating vendor products, services, and suggestions.
  • Adhering to strict Information Systems security guidelines at all times.
  • Maintaining security audit and logging information on all classified networked and standalone computers as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM).
  • Supporting the Cyber Security team.
  • Reporting on project status for all recurring and non-recurring efforts.

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following basic qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of IT experience; OR a Master’s degree with 6 years of IT experience; OR an Associate’s degree with 10 years of IT experience; OR a High School Diploma/GED with 12 years of IT experience.
  • Must possess an active/current Top Secret/SCI clearance with an adjudicated Polygraph at the time of application.
  • Demonstrated server administration experience with both Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred) and Windows.
  • Proficiency in administration of VMware technologies (or related).
  • Must have a DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (e.g., Security+ CE); or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of the start date.
  • Experience with NAS storage device administration (preferably NetApp, ONTAP 8.x or higher; CDOT).
  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Availability to provide after-hours and weekend support as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with the following qualifications will be highly preferred:

  • A higher degree in a STEM-related discipline.
  • Experience with network hardware and configuration.
  • 10+ years of experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) server administration in an SCI classified environment.
  • Experience operating under and managing systems within NISPOM Chapter 8, DCID 6/3-ICD 503, RMF, STIG, JAFAN, or JSIG information system environments.
  • Solid understanding of Enterprise-level storage concepts, including all commonly used RAID-levels.
  • Strong understanding of remediating security vulnerabilities; experience hardening Linux systems in accordance with RMF and STIGs.
  • Experience with Identity Management (Single Sign-On).
  • VMware and ESXi (6.x or higher) configuration and management experience.
  • Experience with host-based firewall implementations and configuration (Red Hat “iptables”).
  • Experience with Windows 10 administration, Windows Server, Group Policies (GPOs), and Active Directory management.
  • Solid writing skills and experience using Wiki pages and SharePoint sites for documentation.
  • A DoD 8570 Certification in a primary OS (Windows, Linux, Cisco).
  • Currently valid Security+ CE, CASP, CISSP, or similar security certification.
  • Experience with VMware, NetApp, and Splunk among other industry-standard technologies; comfortable with maintenance and OS upgrades.
  • Familiarity with Tenable and Nessus scans for vulnerability and controls implementation.
