About the Opportunity: Senior IT Systems Administrator at UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement

Lucas James Talent Partners is currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Senior IT Systems Administrator to join UL Research Institutes (ULRI) and UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE). This position is based in their Evanston, IL office.

The Senior IT Systems Administrator will serve as a technical expert and key liaison between the IT Operations and Infrastructure teams. This role is responsible for managing enterprise IT assets, optimizing cloud-based services, driving IT automation, and supporting endpoint security and collaboration tools. You’ll play a crucial role in enhancing IT service delivery and infrastructure management within the organization.

What You’ll Learn and Achieve:

As a Senior IT Systems Administrator, you will be instrumental in UL’s rapid growth by:

• Configuring and managing devices across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android using Microsoft Intune, including provisioning, Autopilot enrollment, compliance, and conditional access policies.
• Deploying applications via Win32 App packaging, MSI deployment, or Company Portal, and monitoring device compliance using Intune reporting.
• Troubleshooting hardware and software issues on managed endpoints and monitoring their performance, patch compliance, and security.
• Developing and maintaining automation scripts using PowerShell and Bash to streamline endpoint and system administration tasks.
• Collaborating with Security teams to implement and support Zero Trust frameworks and MFA policies across the environment.
• Managing the full user lifecycle (provisioning and deprovisioning) in Azure Active Directory and administering Conditional Access, MFA, and PIM.
• Maintaining SSO integrations and Group Policy mappings for seamless identity and access management.
• Administering Exchange Online, including mailbox configuration, mail flow rules, retention policies, and eDiscovery compliance, as well as troubleshooting deliverability issues.
• Configuring Microsoft Teams policies, guest access, and compliance settings; supporting Teams Rooms Pro deployments, including hardware/software setup.
• Integrating Teams with collaboration tools like SharePoint and OneDrive, and troubleshooting voice/video conferencing, call queues, and meeting policies.
• Monitoring and remediating non-compliant devices through Intune compliance reporting.
• Performing other duties as directed.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

• Certifications in Intune Administration, JAMF Administration, and Office 365 Cloud Administration.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Intune (Endpoint Manager) for Windows/macOS device management.
• Experience with tools like Copilot, Ansible, or Power Automate to improve and automate IT processes is a plus.
• Expertise in JAMF Pro for managing Apple devices.
• Deep knowledge of Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), Exchange Online, and Microsoft Teams administration.
• Extensive experience with PowerShell, Bash, and automation tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
• Ability to work effectively with executives and PhD-level scientists, and to participate in special project teams.

Professional Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT system administration or a similar role.
• Experience with ITIL frameworks or certifications (e.g., ITIL Foundation) is a plus.
