Human Resources Manager
We’re seeking a passionate and hands-on Human Resources Manager who thrives in a dynamic, small company environment. In this well-rounded role, you’ll manage all HR functions, from payroll to employee engagement, making a significant impact on our workplace culture and employee development.
Key Responsibilities
As our HR Manager, you’ll be responsible for a comprehensive range of HR functions:
- Payroll Management: Accurately process weekly, semi-monthly, and off-cycle payroll for both union and non-union employees, ensuring full compliance with laws and regulations.
- Benefits Administration: Act as the primary contact for insurance brokers, manage open enrollment, handle ongoing benefits inquiries, and ensure effective communication of all offerings.
- Full-Cycle Recruiting: Oversee the entire recruiting process, from job posting to candidate selection, conducting interviews and supporting hiring managers in their decisions.
- On-boarding/Off-boarding: Facilitate seamless on-boarding for new hires and smooth off-boarding for departing employees, including conducting exit interviews for valuable feedback.
- Employee Relations and Conflict Management: Administer performance reviews and effectively handle employee relations issues, coaching managers on conflict resolution and best practices in performance management.
- Workers’ Compensation: Manage all workers’ compensation claims and ensure compliance with related policies.
- Safety and Compliance: Process and file essential reports like EEO, W2, and OSHA 300, while actively promoting a safe work environment and ensuring adherence to safety regulations.
- Employee Engagement: Conduct employee engagement surveys and implement initiatives to enhance workplace culture, creating a fun and engaging environment.
- Communications: Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly convey HR policies and procedures.
- Employment Law: Maintain a thorough understanding of local and federal employment laws to ensure continuous compliance.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will be a committed, experienced HR professional:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- SHRM certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of well-rounded HR Generalist experience.
- Prior experience operating as a sole HR professional or on a small HR team.
- Proven experience across all key responsibilities: payroll processing, benefits administration, recruiting, employee relations, on-boarding/off-boarding, workers’ compensation, safety, HR compliance, and employment law.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel and experience with an HRIS and payroll system (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, UKG, Ceridian).
- Multi-site experience is preferred.
- A strong understanding of both union and non-union environments is a plus.
